What is the purpose of reporting in?
The purpose of a report in session is to encourage a child to read and to share their reading experience in an enjoyable, friendly environment. It is also a fun way for children to get to know library staff, learn to use the library catalogue and be introduced to new books, authors and genre.
How to report in
Reporting in is an easy and fun experience for children.
To report in children need to remember to:
At each report in staff will chat to your child about his/her reading. It is an opportunity also for children to ask for reading guidance and to help improve their library skills. They will also receive a gift and a sticker for their folder. They must complete three report ins (1 per week) to finish the programme and to be invited to the finale. On completion of the programme they receive a medal and certificate.
It may be possible for children to participate in the programme if they go on holiday, however they must complete two report ins at any South Taranaki LibraryPlus. A third report in can be an alternative one. **
**Alternative report-in options:
To report in children need to remember to:
- Bring the books read to the report in session with them.
- Have fun telling us about their books.
- Ask if they need help with book selection.
